Railroad Activity 

Track and catenary work on the New Haven Line between Fort Point Street and the Strawberry Hill Avenue Railroad Bridge 

  • Friday, April 26 - Monday, April 29, from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM. 
  • No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
  • Noise will be monitored.

Construction on the New Haven Line at the Fort Point Street, Osborne Avenue, and East Avenue Railroad Bridges

  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
  • Noise will be monitored.

Marine Activity

Construction activities northeast, southeast, northwest and southwest of the WALK Bridge on the Norwalk River

  • Friday, April 26, from 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
  • Saturday, April 27, from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
  • Construction activities include pile driving for trestles, relocation of the WALK Bridge Control House and installation of secant pits ahead of micro-tunneling. 
  • Noise will be monitored.

Eastern channel closure on the Norwalk River, from Friday, May 3 - Monday, May 6

  • The eastern channel will re-open on Tuesday, May 7.
  • The western channel at the WALK Bridge remains open to marine users.
  • Marine users advised to follow navigation signs and marine police for directions; please call VH13 for marine police. 

Other Activity

East Avenue Closed underneath the Railroad Bridge

  • 10:00 PM on Friday, April 26 - 6:00 AM on Monday, April 29. 
  • East Avenue will be closed between Winfield Street and Fort Point Street
  • Motorists will be detoured to Van Zant Street and Fort Point Street.
  • Local business, residential and train station access maintained.

Utility work on East Avenue between Raymond Terrace and Winfield Street

  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
  • Alternating one-way traffic will be maintained on East Avenue.
  • Noise and lighting will be monitored.

Construction activities near 70-90 Water Street

  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • Activities include paving the driveway at the temporary vessel site.
  • Noise will be monitored.

Construction activities southwest of the WALK Bridge near North Water Street

  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Activities include materials delivery, site preparation and installation of a construction access ramp to the southwest trestle.
  • Noise will be monitored.

Eversource and its contractors will begin street work, including excavating at the following locations:

Elizabeth Street, near the intersection of Day Street

  • Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
  • One-way traffic will be maintained on Elizabeth Street, on-street parking will be reduced near the work areas.
  • Local property and business access will be maintained.

Fort Point Street (Rt. 136) between Seaview Ave and Van Zant Street

 

Construction activities are subject to change. Modifications to the schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
