East Avenue reopens to traffic on Friday, March 29.

East Avenue will reopen on Friday night to all traffic after a 3-week closure for Frontier utility work. 

East Norwalk Train Station to reopen on April 1

Work is completed on a new underdrain system under the existing East Norwalk station northern parking lot in preparation for future improvements.

Regular train service will return on Monday, April 1.

Railroad Activity 

Track and catenary work on the New Haven Line between Fort Point Street and the Strawberry Hill Avenue Railroad Bridge 

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
  • No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
  • Noise and construction lighting are anticipated and will be monitored.

Construction on the New Haven Line at the Fort Point StreetOsborne Avenue, and East Avenue Railroad Bridges

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
  • No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
  • Noise and construction lighting are anticipated and will be monitored.

Marine Activity

Construction activities northeastsoutheastnorthwest and southwest of the WALK Bridge on the Norwalk River

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 7:00 AM - 4.30 PM.
  • Construction activities include pile driving for trestles, relocation of the WALK Bridge Control House and installation of secant pits ahead of micro-tunneling. 
  • Construction noise is anticipated and will be monitored. 

Other Activity

Utility work on East Avenue between Fort Point Street and the East Norwalk Train Station

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 7:00 AM - 6:00 AM.
  • No impacts to local roads, parking or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.  
  • Construction noise and lighting will be monitored.
  • Schedule is subject to change.

Overnight construction activities near 70-90 Water Street

  • Monday, April 1, from 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
  • Activities include removing and demolishing the sidewalk to construct the driveway at the temporary vessel site.
  • Construction noise and lighting are anticipated and will be monitored.
  • Schedule is subject to change.

Construction activities southwest of the WALK Bridge near North Water Street

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • Activities include materials delivery, site preparation and installation of a construction access ramp to the southwest trestle.
  • Construction noise and lighting will be monitored.
  • Schedule is subject to change.

Eversource and its contractors will begin street work, including excavating at the following locations:

Elizabeth Street:

  • Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5, from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
  • One-way traffic will be maintained on Elizabeth Street, on-street parking will be reduced near the work areas.
  • Local property and business access will be maintained.

Washington Street (Rt. 136) between the entrance to Veteran’s Memorial Park and Seaview Ave
