Meet the Team

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is implementing the WALK Bridge Program in cooperation with the Federal Transit Administration and Metro-North Railroad. In 2014, the CTDOT selected HNTB as the Design Consultant for the WALK Bridge Program. In 2015, the CTDOT completed the WALK Bridge Program Team by selecting Cianbro-Middlesex Joint Venture (CMJV) as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) and WSP as Program Management Consultant.

 

 

 

 

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) are the federal agencies that provide financial and technical assistance for public transportation projects. On the WALK Bridge Program, the FTA and the FRA provide federal oversight, project-related approvals, policy directives and decisions from the federal perspective.

 

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is the owner of the WALK Bridge Program. CTDOT leads the management, design, and construction of the Walk Bridge and related projects as part of its mission to provide a safe and efficient intermodal transportation network that improves the quality of life and promotes economic vitality for the City of Norwalk, State of Connecticut and the entire Northeast Corridor.

 

 

Metro-North Railroad (MNR) operates and maintains the New Haven Line, the busiest commuter rail line in the country, under a contract with CTDOT. MNR is the second largest commuter railroad in the country, carrying nearly 300,000 passengers daily over 795 track miles.

 

 

Amtrak operates and maintains the Northeast Regional and Acela passenger rail service on the 457-mile long Northeast Corridor, the rail spine connecting Washington, D.C. and Boston.

 

 

HNTB is the Design Consultant and the Designer of Record for the WALK Bridge Program. HNTB’s design services include: bridge, mechanical, electrical, track, high tower, catenary, geotechnical, signals and communication, civil, architectural, hydraulics, and construction sequencing. HNTB is also responsible for preparing the environmental documentation and permit applications for the Program.

 

 

Cianbro-Middlesex Joint Venture (CMJV) is the Construction Manager and General Contractor for the WALK Bridge Program. CMJV will provide Construction Management services during the pre-construction (design and permitting) phase and, during the construction phase, will act as General Contractor for all construction activities.

 

 

WSP is the Program Management Consultant for the WALK Bridge Program. WSP will act as an extension of CTDOT’s staff and assist in coordinating with the design consultant, providing Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services and contractor management. As Program Manager, WSP will assist in developing and managing the overall program scope, schedule, and budget.
